Hot Cheese Dip

1/4 cup finely chopped green onion

1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon, crushed
1 teaspoon margarine or butter
1 teaspoon cornstarch
3/4 cup beer or milk
2 cups shredded American cheese
1 3-ounce package cream cheese, cut up
French bread cubes or tortilla chips

In a saucepan cook onion, garlic, and tarragon in margarine, or butter.
Stir in cornstarch.
Add beer, or milk, all at once.
Cook and stir till thickened and bubbling.
Gradually add cheeses, stirring till melted.
Serve with bread or tortilla chips.
Makes 2 cups.
