***You want good firm apples for this recipe.
6 good sized apples; peeled, cored, quartered, and then sliced into about 1/2 inch thick slices
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, whichever your preference
1/4 cup of packed brown sugar
1/3 cup of all purpose flour
ground cinnamon
sugar
ginger
2 cups gram cracker crumbs
1 bag mini-marshmallows

You need one non-stick skillet, and one oblong baking dish.

Lightly grease the baking dish and set it aside.
***Butter Flavor Crisco works best.
Put butter, or margarine, and your apple slices in the non-stick skillet with the brown sugar, and equal amounts of the ground cinnamon, sugar, and ginger.
***Don't overdo the cinnamon, sugar, and ginger. You only want there to be a taste of them.
Set burner to low, and warm the mixture until the apples are soft, 'gently' stirring frequently to prevent scorching or sticking.
***If the apples turn to apple sauce, then you did something wrong. They should keep their shape.
Once the apple mixture is done set it aside for a few minutes.

Now, take the baking dish and sprinkle the flour over the bottom, and 1 cup of the gram cracker crumbs.
Next, take the apple mixture and spoon it into the baking dish.
***At this point, you're trying not to disturb the flour and crumbs on the bottom of the baking dish.
Take the rest of the gram cracker crumbs and sprinkle them over the top.
Then, using a tablespoon, push some of the crumbs down into the apple mixture. You don't want to mix the two together completely, only partially.
Bake uncovered in a 350F or 177C oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Set it aside, and let it cool.
Once it's cool, sprinkle a liberal amount of the mini-marshmallows over it and a little more cinnamon and ginger, and it's ready to serve. If you don't want to use marshmallows, powdered sugar works nicely too.
